About Us

March for College, Inc.℠ is a solely funded organization. Providing high school students and parents with direct access to various colleges, in order to heighten college interest.  Prospective college students can learn what steps to take to get into college, talk to admission officers and even apply to colleges on the spot at our annual March for College Recruitment Fair and Band Exhibition events!  

Along with assisting prospective college students with vital information, March for College, Inc.℠ encourages musicians to attend college by connecting them with university band directors, music departments, audition information, summer band camp… We proudly assist university marching bands with their annual recruitment effort to increase HBCU Band enrollment. March for College, Inc. ℠ targets thousands of high school students in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and surrounding states to attend our annual College Recruitment Fair and Band Exhibition event. 

Our ALL NEW – 1st of its kind, HBCU BAND TOUR, takes band students (musicians, dancers, flags and cheerleaders) on a college tour to meet with recruiters, tour campus, spends time with the college band members/band directors/cheerleader director, audition and sit in college band rehearsals! Also. fun summer excursions during our Summer HBCU BAND TOUR! What an opportunity! You may come home with a Band Scholarship! www.HBCUBandTour.com 

ADRIENNE BROWN 
Founder/President

Born and raised in the Washington, DC. Adrienne’s love for music started the day she was born. She grew up watching her father teach music (Band Director) in DC public schools, listen to him play jazz at home, in bands around town (she once played the tambourines with them on stage at about eight years old). Her father also played with Gladys Knight and the Pips! 

Adrienne began playing the violin at the age of six, and soon found her favorite instrument, the flute! She studied music at Duke Ellington School of the Arts in D.C., under Mr. Norman Brentley. She attending Norfolk State University on a four year Music Scholarship! Performed in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble for four years as first chair flute during the Spring. During the Fall, she marched in the Norfolk State University Marching Spartan Legion Band as a “HOT ICE” Dancer! Both under the direction of Emory L. Fears. Currently, she is a faithful member of the NSU Alumni Band!

A talent was nurtured and a genuine interest to help our high school students and musicians seek higher education.  Adrienne founded March for College, Inc.℠ for prospective college students and parents to gain important information on what’s needed to apply to college, how to find financing and meet with admissions staff from colleges at the annual College Recruitment Fair and Band Exposition. Now incorporating the NEW HBCU BAND TOUR, taking high school band students and their parents on a College Tour to visit college band directors/band member, audition and sit in college band rehearsals to enable students to get a feel of being in an HBCU band. This also assist in college decision making. The HBCU BAND TOUR is for all 8th -12th grades, emphasizing on band/musicians, dancers, flags and cheerleaders! 

Adrienne is passionate about March for College, Inc.℠. She once said, “We have all been told to find something that you are passionate about and this is it for me!” She diligently working hard and her creativity shows she enjoys every second of it.

You might be surprised to know, Adrienne worked in Radio as an On-Air Personality for years. TOUCH 96.1/92.1 in Norfolk, VA (hired week of college graduation), and WPGC/CBS Radio D.C.-Morning Show Producer/On air personality/Teen Speak-Out Host & Producer. Creator of the Go-Go FLAVA Hour which influenced the two half hour go-go shows currently on two D.C. top stations, on at 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM. She also loved working in sales at WHUR, as a Marketing Director, Publicist for Howard University Press, and freelanced for HBO.
